Great location

Pros: You know what you're getting with the Marriott chain - always reliable
Location: right by Cardiff Central station and the bar quarter with Cardiff Bay within walking distance. Always plenty to do in Cardiff
Great location and nice hotel - all the staff are really friendly and efficient. Marriott chain - you can always rely on it. Good value rate including Wifi and breakfast - which was splendid.

Pleasant but tired

Lovely stay, hotel a little tired but still comfortable. Good breakfast but no mushrooms, even had gluten free rolls. Hotel bar was open till 2pm but didn't have some ingredients for drinks i.e. Strawberries for a daiquiri or cucumber for Hendricks because the kitchen was locked. We paid for a deluxe room at £200 per night but it really was only worth half of that.

Training Bar Staff "On The Job"

Pros: Location and ambiance
Cons: Lack of experienced waiters and bar staff, although they were all commited to providing a good service, they were not provided with the tools, ie corr
Location: Great location for the sport, and for shopping, have a great weekend with a few couples when the rugby internationals are on in the new year.
Why did my husband have to show two bartenders (One on each night) how to make a Lemon, Lime and Bitters? Surely Hotels of this calibre should be employing experienced bar staff. Maybe the day has come where hotels are required to provide experienced bar staff. Although my Husband enjoyed the experience, telling the bar staff to ask for a rise, it really is poor local management practice not to give at least two days "off the job" training and assessment to staff. I blame the hotel management not the bar staff.

Too hot!

The room was very warm but when we switched on the air conditioning it would only blow hot air. We complained and were told that, as it is winter, the air conditioning was set to warm air only! As a result it was too hot to sleep. We opened the window but were then disturbed by music from the bars below. Terrible night's sleep. Desk staff were very sympathetic and offered some discount but unfortunately it did not compensate for the loss of sleep.

Mini Family Break

We stayed at the Marriott during a short weekend break and the location was perfect. Everything within walking distance. Parking is an issue in the area but the hotel let us keep.our car in their car park until 3pm which meant we were able to see the city and have lunch without any worry. Well done Marriott. Will definitely stay again.
