Poor lighting control overall, you also cannot see anything in the bathroom mirror as the lighting is poor. The sink is so low as to be uncomfortable. There is nowhere to put any of your personal items in the bathroom. The water pressure is dismal. The shower is not much more than a dribble. Of the twin beds, one should be in the skip. No power sockets by the bed. A huge gap under the door where the light floods through during the night (blocked with pillows). Shoddy "touch up" paint work, wallpaper peeling off. No complimentary water and a cheap kettle that takes forever to boil. This is not a deluxe room. Its only merit was that is was quiet, as I'd requested. The staff were polite. Room 410 - 4th Floor.

Could not access room on arrival - second room had no working A/C - given a noisy fan instead - offered 5000 marriot reward points in recompense which are worth nothing in real terms - very poor - will not stay again and will not recommend

Nice hotel rooms slightly tired

Stayed here for business, used it mainly because it was convient to walk to work from here. Rooms need updating starting to look a bit old now. Other than the age of the rooms I can’t fault this hotel. Parking £13 per night.

Great city location

Stayed here for a weekend break with mum and sister. Everything was lovely, room, staff and facilities. Only downside was my sister is coeliac and there was not much for her to eat in the evening or at breakfast. There wasn't even any gluten free bread for toast!

Good staff, nice room.

Pros: Efficient, clean, comfortable room, helpful staff in general.
Cons: Breakfast - see review.
Location: El Borracho de Oro is a couple of minutes walk away and is excellent for tapas.
We stayed for one night and didn't have time to try most of the facilities. However, the staff were generally helpful and the room was a good size, clean and quiet. Bath towels were missing from our room but that was easily rectified. The breakfast staff weren't up to the standard we expect. The scrambled egg had run out just before our arrival, and a member of staff had to be notified as they didn't notice. Usually staff would be proactive in spotting this sort of thing. It then took approximately 15 minutes for fresh to arrive. This was annoying because we were on a schedule and the staff seemed rushed and unhappy. Bread for toasting and orange juice also ran out, and again, staff had to be asked for more. This was around 9am - 9:30am and there were many people coming in at this time, so I'm sure a lot of people went away with a poor impression of the breakfast.

Great hotel, close to centre

Great hotel, only criticism is that the room was a bit too hot, unable to open windows and although the aircon appeared to have a dial for you to control either didn't work at all or was set too warm. Hotel staff were very friendly and the room was lovely and clean on arrrival

Lovely hotel close to everything

Stay was lovely can't fault it. Only down side we arrived at breakfast at 10am breakfast is served 6:30-11. And we got our hot food and at 10:20 a worker started removing all the food without even asking if we wanted anymore? Other than that all was amazing

Scratchy tired hotel

It's a hotel which has had its day living on the memory of what it was rooms have a high stench of cigarette smoke I'd changed room from 215-217 due to this and it was just as strong, rubbish in the bin, human stains on the net curtains finger smudges on the mirrored doors left at 3am couldn't sleep or stay there it's the worst hotel probably in Birmingham
