Good for one night

Acceptable accommodation for a short stay. Poor breakfast. Inedible food and coffee straight from the kitchen was cold. No attempt to clear car park of ice making it treacherous.

Transferred to a different hotel!

First room smelt of stale smoke, second room was like sleeping next to a train track- we were transferred to sister hotel. Didn’t get sorted till gone 9pm! Not quite the evening we had planned!

One to avoid

Paper thin walls, uncomfortable beds, and a room that needed a decent clean/refit (carpets, taps) Would avoid next time!

Seen better

Cons: bar shut at 9.00, so absolutely no food after then. Had to order a delivery in....
Breakfast was disappointing: fruit juice seemed watered down, tinned tomatoes, weak coffee, disinterested staff. Bacon and fried eggs were Ok

Very disappointed. Historical place in much need of investment. Understandable why it is as it is since it's part of the Britannia Hotel group. Found dust balls the size of 50 pence coins under the heater along the skirting. Towels in the bathroom have seen better days. Waited ages for bar meal and then starter and main meal came out at the same time. Additional charges for room wifi and use of the fitness facilities. Checked out after the first of four nights.

Run down dump with miserable staff

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Booked for 2 night stay to watch the snooker. Reception staff ignorant and miserable. Only had us booked for room only but showed reservation clearly stated full breakfast (wish I hadn't bothered) Room was noisey, dated and dirty. Creepy crawleys is the bathroom, what was meant to be white was yellow!!! Bar staff were rude and miserable. Breakfast staff same again miserable. Food was awful, buffet style breakfast left for hours and not replenished so cold and bacon was like leather. Meat and veggie options mixed with same serving utensils. Luke warm coffee, burnt toast and stale croissants. Have not slept at all, felt disgusting and not one staff member seemed to care at all. I've stayed in some dodgy places, but this is like staying in a hostel only with your own small dirty bathroom with flickering lights and dodgy plug sockets. Despite advertising free WiFi, this is only 20mins a day. Spa and leisure facilities are also extra. My advice is find somewhere else it'll be worth it. Will not go back.

Fantastic hotel for the price

Hotel was fantastic value for money, clean and fairly well equipped. The lobby was quite impressive given the amount we paid (£35)! However it was incredibly difficult to find at nighttime - DO NOT JUST USE THE POSTCODE IN YOUR SATNAV. It took us to completely the wrong destination. In the end, we had to search for the hotel name on google maps and navigate using google maps navigation (android smartphone).
