Good location in the centre of York. Hotel is a lot smaller than envisaged from the photographs and isn’t easy to locate - better signage outside on the main high street needed. The room overall was okay but considering the price it could do with a refurb and in need of a paint. The rooms are noisy but this is expected given it’s an old property… Overall the hotel is okay.

We attended York for the Ebor race weekend. All COVID restrictions have been lifted in the UK and 66,000 people attended race day on Saturday. However, this hotel did not offer any cleaning service or changing of sheets, towels etc to ‘minimise contact’ due to ‘COVID restrictions’. What a cop out to not pay staff to clean the rooms! What made it worse is the standard of cleanliness was appalling (I will send photos on) with stains on the carpets, on the bed and filthy doors and window sills, not to mention the smell of sewage outside the room. There was a hoover left out in the hallway, just for effect, as clearly it was never used. And it would be remiss of me to not mention the obituary wake up call at 8am of the bins being emptied by this property and surrounding bars. What a disappointment. Shall not be re-visiting.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us, we apologise that you found our Covid policies to be an inconvenience. We explain in our pre arrival and welcome letter in the room, that rooms are not serviced during stayover so that we are able to best ensure the safety of our staff and guests. All amenities are available from reception staff.We apologise that the bar next door to us had a beer delivery during a morning of your stay, sadly this is out of our control but they do try to be as quiet as they possibly can be. We hope you enjoyed your time at Ebor

Excellent location gorgeous room perfect! Complimentary tea/coffee mini bar great. Mulled wine and mince pies on arrival friendly staff overall superb

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the design style of the property, we feel it matches the style and history of the building but understand this might not be to everyone's taste. Being located within a courtyard, surrounded by taller, newer buildings which does mean we don't have any views to speak of; luckily the City itself is very beautiful and the taller surrounding buildings block out the City noise.

Great location

Pros: Location and decor
Cons: Older windows meant it was slightly noisy on Saturday night. There was a stream of light coming in so curtains may have been better than a blind.
Location: Shopping on the doorstep, the Christmas markets were on when we went which were good. York Minster about a 5 minute walk.
Couldn’t have been in a better location, right off one of the main shopping streets. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was cosy and comfortable and decorated to a high standard.
